Update January 2016: it was announced that Silveira will move soon to a new location, and Toñi Vicente’s new restaurant will take its place. More news to follow!
Silveira is a newcomer in Santiago, as it was founded in 2014, but it is site in an historical building that used to be the glorious Hotel Suizo. In 1927 and 1929 Ernest Hemingway spent some time there, as the plaque outside the door reminds us.
Silveira serves simple traditional food. We love their croquetas (bechamel croquettes) and their raxo con queixo (pork loin in cheese sauce). Their lunch set menu is good value for money at 10€ Monday to Friday (on weekends they have a special menu for 15€).
